Brothers & Sisters,

It deeply saddens me to tell you that Doug Griffith passed away this afternoon.  He was a much loved life-member of ABATE of Tulsa, who was passionate about biker's rights (and the Tulsa Trail Riders) and he will be sorely missed.  Please remember his family at this difficult time.  As soon as I have information about funeral arrangements, I will pass it on.

A memorial service will be held for "Disco" Doug Griffith this Friday at 10am at Floral Haven, located at 6500 S. 129th E. Ave. in Tulsa.  There will be a viewing Thursday evening.  He will be buried in Kansas, near other members of his family.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Tanya's Place, apartments in Tulsa for transplant recipients, where they are cared for at no charge.  There will be a donation box at Jack's and as soon as I have the address of Tanya's Place, I will pass it along.  Again, please keep his family in your prayers at this difficult time.

The year is 1907.....but the speaker was great.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American... There can be no
divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English  language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
